With the current surge in popularity of Muay Thai throughout the world, more so in the West, Bernard Radin wants to kick-start the promotion of this sport in Malaysia to empower all Malaysians, especially Malaysian youths.Radin has spent at least 10 years training, studying, researching and exploring the intricacies of martial arts sports, in particular, Muay Thai. Currently, Bernard Radin is a full-time instructor at his MuayThaiAcademy in Ipoh, aggressively promoting this traditional sport which he sees as his way of giving something back to society.
The academy was established in Pekan Tambun, just a stone’s throw from Ipoh, Perak – an apt choice considering this was, and still is, Radin’s hometown. It was here in Ipoh, too, that he first learned the art of self-defence before expanding his skills and knowledge in neighbouring Thailand. Radin readily encourages the participation of young people in this sport which, according to him, will build and project a more positive image of these youths in the eyes of society, whilst reducing social ills such as drug abuse and the current Mat Rempit menace.
